Weaver Towers

Gaylord Weaver
Weaver Towers was built in 1979. It accommodates 225 students in suites, additionally providing a community kitchen, study rooms, laundry rooms, social lounges and a music room.
Weaver Hall is named for Gaylord C. Weaver, a 1926 professional engineering graduate in geological engineering. Gaylord was one of the school’s most prominent benefactors. In 1969, he founded the Gaylord C. Weaver Endowed Scholarship. Weaver bequeathed $4M from his estate to Mines, which, at the time, was the largest single endowment gift ever made to Mines by an individual. He is credited with discovering a major potash reserve near Carlsbad and three billion tons of copper ore in Arizona.
